PICTS - The Dora Community Orchard

The Dora Community Orchard is a living expression of Poverty Intervention Charity Transforming Scotland’s (PICTS) commitment to dignity, unity, and renewal. Rooted in the heart of our community, the orchard is far more than a place where fruit grows — it is a sanctuary where people can reconnect with nature, with one another, and with their own sense of wellbeing.

Mental Health & Wellbeing

Planting, tending, and harvesting are simple acts, yet profoundly healing ones. Within the orchard, these rhythms of care offer calm, purpose, and gentle restoration. Here, individuals can slow down, breathe deeply, and find grounding through meaningful connection with the land.

Community & Inclusion

The orchard is a shared space where volunteers, families, and neighbours gather side by side. It is a place of welcome and belonging, where everyone has a role in cultivating shared abundance. Through shared work and shared harvests, we strengthen relationships and weave a more connected, compassionate community.

Growth & Sustainability

By nurturing fruit trees and green spaces, the orchard promotes sustainable living and local food security. It is a hands‑on learning environment where people of all ages can gain skills, confidence, and knowledge that empower both individuals and the wider community.

Outdoor Activities & Engagement

Beyond the growing season, the orchard comes alive with outdoor activities, learning sessions, storytelling, and seasonal ceremonies. These gatherings celebrate heritage, honour the changing seasons, and nurture resilience — reminding us that growth is both a personal and collective journey.

Get Involved

Join us in making a difference. Whether you want to donate, volunteer, or simply learn more, there are many ways to get involved and support our work.
