PICTS - Veterans Section

Our Veterans Support Programme offers a flexible, compassionate pathway for veterans and their families as they navigate life beyond service. We recognise that every veteran’s journey is different — progress is not always linear, and support needs can change over time. Veterans can engage at any stage, move between services, or remain where they feel most comfortable.

The programme is built around three interconnected strands:

Essentials

Essentials focus on connection, community, and rebuilding confidence. Through social gatherings, commemorative events, shared activities, walks, trips, and informative talks, veterans and their families are supported to reconnect with others who understand their experiences, share memories, and rediscover a sense of belonging and hope.

Support & Information

Support & Information provides personalised, practical guidance to help veterans and their families access the services they need. This includes support with benefits, housing, financial guidance, and physical and mental wellbeing services. We act as a trusted intermediary, offering one-to-one support, practical help with appointments, phone calls, online access, and a personalised “road map” to appropriate local and national veteran services.

Thrive

Thrive supports veterans who are ready to explore employment, training, volunteering, or a renewed sense of purpose. This strand offers guidance towards veteran-friendly employers, training and qualification opportunities, and meaningful ways to give back through storytelling, mentoring, or volunteering to support other veterans.

At the heart of our approach is dignity, choice, and respect. Veterans are free to move forwards, pause, revisit earlier stages, or combine elements of the programme in a way that works for them — with support that adapts to their individual needs and lived experience.
